The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Council in Taraba State has rejected reports that Governor Agbu Kefas plans to defect to the ruling APC. The group described the move as unacceptable and against the values of the party. According to them, the governor does not represent the kind of leadership the APC stands for.
In a statement issued in Jalingo on Thursday, the youth leaders said representatives from all zones in the state met and agreed to pass a vote of no confidence on the governor. They argued that his political beliefs and leadership style do not fit the principles and vision of the APC. The council insisted that allowing him into the party would contradict the ideals they stand for.
Speaking on behalf of the group, State Coordinator Bilyamin Musa stressed that the youths strongly oppose the governor’s alleged defection. He stated that Governor Kefas has not shown the qualities expected of a progressive leader. According to Musa, the APC is a party for committed and development-focused individuals, and the youths do not believe the governor fits that description.
The group further accused Governor Kefas of poor leadership, claiming that his two years in office have not brought visible development to Taraba State. They urged the national leadership of the APC to take their position seriously and ensure that only visionary and capable leaders are welcomed into the party.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the youths promised to continue supporting the party’s growth in the state. They also pledged to mobilize grassroots support to strengthen the APC and promote good governance in Taraba State.
