Lilian Adebayo, wife of the 2023 Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, has expressed strong confidence that the SDP will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. She stated this while speaking to journalists after an event in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Mrs. Adebayo, the SDP has resolved its internal disputes following the recent removal of the party’s former chairman, Shehu Gabam, and some other officials. She insisted that the opposition party is now united and ready to present a credible alternative to Nigerians in the next election cycle.

Mrs. Adebayo urged Nigerians to vote based on truth and conscience, saying the hardships experienced under the APC government should not be ignored. She noted that if citizens vote honestly and judge based on performance, the SDP stands a strong chance of winning. “If Nigerians truly want progress, they must stop voting for the same people who have failed them,” she stressed.

Her comments came shortly after state chairmen of the SDP called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the police to investigate Gabam over alleged misuse of party funds. The move, according to the party, shows its commitment to transparency and discipline.

With the 2027 election approaching, Mrs. Adebayo emphasized that the SDP is prepared to offer Nigerians a better leadership direction. She maintained that the party has learned from past challenges and is focused on presenting solutions to national issues such as economic hardship, insecurity, and governance problems.
