NPFL: Boboye reacts to Bendel Insurance draw with Kun Khalifat

Bendel Insurance head coach, Kennedy Boboye, has praised Kun Khalifat FC for their impressive performance in the 1-1 draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Sunday. The match marked Boboye’s first game in charge of Bendel Insurance, and his side managed to secure a valuable away point in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.

Bendel Insurance took the lead through Kayode Oke, whose goal gave the visitors early control of the game. However, Kun Khalifat fought back strongly, with Uche Moses netting a deserved equaliser to earn the Owerri-based club a share of the spoils.

Speaking after the match, Boboye expressed satisfaction with both teams’ performances, noting that Kun Khalifat played with strong tactical awareness and determination. “It’s like coming home to play here in Owerri — this is my home, so I made my team feel at home,” Boboye told reporters. “We played against a good team in Kun Khalifat FC. They were tactically disciplined and determined, which helped them get the equaliser.”

The coach emphasised that he was pleased with how his players adapted to his tactical approach despite it being his debut game as Insurance’s technical adviser. He also acknowledged that the team needs to improve in maintaining focus and finishing their chances to secure more victories in future matches.

The draw sees Bendel Insurance continue their solid start to the NPFL season under Boboye’s leadership, while Kun Khalifat FC will take confidence from holding one of the league’s strongest sides to a draw on home soil.
