Nigeria needs leaders who think before talking – APC knocks Peter Obi over ports comment

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, over his recent comments on Nigeria’s port development. The party said Nigeria deserves leaders who think before they speak, not those who mistake populist soundbites for sound policy discussion.

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, on Tuesday, the APC accused Obi of making shallow remarks without proper research. The statement said that constructive intellectual engagement has always been Obi’s weakest point and urged him to study national issues carefully before making public statements.

Oladejo stated that unlike the opposition, President Bola Tinubu’s administration focuses on real governance and national progress, not propaganda. He added that the Renewed Hope Agenda was designed to benefit all Nigerians, not just one region.

He highlighted several major port projects across the country, including the Bonny Deep Sea Port in Rivers State, Ibom Port in Akwa Ibom, and the rehabilitation of the Warri and Calabar Ports. According to him, these initiatives show that the Tinubu administration’s plans are inclusive and nationwide, not Lagos-centered as critics claim.

The Lagos APC concluded that governance should be guided by strategy and knowledge, not emotion or populism. The party reaffirmed that President Tinubu and the APC remain focused on building a Nigeria that works for everyone.
