The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 153 Nigerian returnees who arrived from Chad under the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme, facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria.
In a statement released by NEMA’s Lagos Operations Office on Tuesday via X, the agency confirmed that the returnees arrived at the Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, October 27, 2025, at around 12:15 pm aboard an ASKY Airlines flight with registration number CAS-AC.
According to NEMA, the group consisted of 105 adults (63 males and 42 females), 45 children (25 males and 20 females), and 3 infants, all females. Upon arrival, officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) carried out biometric registration and documentation to ensure accurate profiling and facilitate smooth reintegration of the returnees.
The agency stated that, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the safe, dignified, and humane return of citizens, the returnees were provided with immediate humanitarian support, including food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, luggage handling, logistics, and counselling assistance.
NEMA added that the entire repatriation operation was jointly coordinated with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, ensuring that the returnees were well supported as they began the process of rebuilding their lives in Nigeria.
