Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has opened up on the reason behind his move from Manchester United to Chelsea during the last summer transfer window.
The Argentina international said his decision to join the London club was influenced by Chelsea’s playing style and the opportunity to grow under new manager Enzo Maresca. Garnacho’s switch came shortly after his reported fallout with former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Garnacho revealed that his conversation with Maresca convinced him to make the move. “When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s also important the style of play we have,” the 20-year-old said. “He explained a lot to me in a video call. It’s a big chance to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea.”
The winger added that joining Chelsea was not just a career move but a personal challenge to push himself in a new environment. He praised Maresca’s vision and the young, ambitious squad being built at Stamford Bridge.
Garnacho has already begun making an impact, scoring Chelsea’s only goal in their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Sunderland over the weekend. Fans are hopeful he will continue to develop and bring creativity to the team’s attack as the season progresses.
