The Imo State Police Command has made remarkable progress in tackling crime, arresting 928 suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking, and other offenses within the last six months. The announcement was made by the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Owerri.

According to CP Danjuma, the Command also recovered 673 live cartridges, 17 firearms, 72 rounds of ammunition, and 9 stolen motorcycles believed to have been snatched from victims. He praised the efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, whose proactive operations led to the rescue of nine kidnapped victims and seven stolen children, all of whom have since been reunited with their families.

The Police Commissioner further revealed that several items, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), charms, counterfeit currencies, laptops, and hard drugs, were seized during various raids across the state. One of the major breakthroughs recorded by the Command was the arrest of six notorious kidnappers identified as Chijioke Nwakaudu, Chibuike Ajaere, Richard Ugochukwu, Chuka Anene, Christian Emekwe, and Emeka Emezume, who had been terrorizing Imo and neighboring Anambra State.

Their arrest, according to the Commissioner, led to additional recoveries in Obosi, Anambra State, including seven AK-47 rifles, nine pump-action guns, four pistols, 250 rounds of GPMG ammunition, and 910 cartridges. The suspects also confessed to multiple kidnappings, including the abduction of Ugochukwu Favour Nwachinemere and Mr. Ikechukwu, for whom N5 million ransom was paid.

CP Danjuma commended the dedication of his officers and appealed to residents to continue providing useful intelligence to help combat crime effectively. He assured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining peace, and restoring public confidence in law enforcement across the state.
