Ex- Chief of Staff, Mascot Kalu declares for 2027 Abia governorship

Former Chief of Staff to the ex-Governor of Abia State, Mascot Uzor Kalu, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kalu, who made the declaration on Saturday in Umuahia, pledged to restore transparency in governance and return the full operations of the Abia Government House to the state capital.

Addressing APC members and supporters, Kalu—who is the younger brother of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu—said his decision was born out of a passion to deliver good governance, bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, and ensure that Abia’s resources are used for the benefit of its citizens. He promised that if elected, local government allocations would be protected and used strictly for grassroots development.

The APC chieftain also emphasized the importance of peace and unity within the Abia APC, calling on members to put aside their differences and work collectively for the party’s victory in 2027. He noted that the party has the right people and structure to win the upcoming elections if everyone stays committed and focused.

Kalu highlighted his vision to return the Abia Government House fully to Umuahia, stressing that it was wrong for administrative functions to be conducted outside the state capital. He assured party members that his leadership would prioritize financial transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.

He further pledged to build on the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying that the federal government’s reforms have laid a solid foundation that Abia can build upon. “Our victory in 2027 will come through unity, hard work, and belief in the renewed hope agenda,” Kalu said.
