Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has made history by becoming the first Nigerian footballer to record 300 appearances in the English Premier League. The Super Eagles star reached the milestone on Saturday during Fulham’s clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Iwobi, aged 29, made his Premier League debut back in October 2015 for Arsenal in a game against Swansea City. Over the years, his career has seen him feature for three top English clubs — Arsenal, Everton, and now Fulham — earning a reputation as one of the most consistent and hard-working African players in the league.
During his Premier League journey, Iwobi played 100 matches for Arsenal, 123 for Everton, and has now appeared 77 times for Fulham. In total, he has contributed to 69 goal involvements, including 32 goals and 37 assists, proving his value as both a creator and finisher.
The Nigerian playmaker also joins an elite group of African footballers who have reached or surpassed the 300-appearance mark. He becomes the fifth African to do so, following Kolo Touré (353), Mohamed Salah (309), Wilfried Zaha (305), and Jordan Ayew (305).
Iwobi’s achievement cements his legacy as one of Nigeria’s finest exports to the English top flight. His consistency, versatility, and professionalism continue to make him a role model for young African players aspiring to succeed in Europe’s most competitive league.
