Kaduna proud of ex-CDS Musa – Shehu Sani reacts to Tinubu’s sack of service chiefs

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the recent shake-up in Nigeria’s security leadership, following President Bola Tinubu’s dismissal of Service Chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. Sani praised Musa’s contributions and stated that the people of Kaduna State remain proud of his achievements during his tenure.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the former lawmaker noted that periodic changes in security leadership are essential to improve performance and enhance results in the fight against insecurity. He said the failure to make such leadership adjustments in the past was one of the reasons for Nigeria’s prolonged security challenges.

“For us in Kaduna, we appreciate the service and stewardship of the outgoing CDS General Musa. We are proud of his accomplishments. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” Sani wrote, commending Musa’s professionalism and impact in strengthening national security during his service.

Earlier, a statement by Presidential spokesman Sunday Dare confirmed the changes, announcing General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Musa. Other new appointees include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, while Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The president, through the statement, commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their service to the nation and charged the new security heads to demonstrate professionalism, vigilance, and dedication in protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty.
