First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has launched a new feature on its Mobile App that allows customers to open investment accounts and invest directly in mutual funds managed by FCMB Asset Management, the investment arm of FCMB Group Plc. This innovation marks another major milestone in the bank’s mission to create a fully digital financial ecosystem where customers can save, invest, and grow wealth seamlessly on one trusted platform.
Through this new feature, users can now access a variety of mutual fund options, including the Legacy Money Market Fund for low-risk investors, the Legacy Equity Fund for growth-focused investments, the Legacy Debt Fund for local-currency bonds, and the Legacy USD Bond Fund for dollar-based investments. These funds are tailored to meet different financial goals — from short-term liquidity to long-term capital appreciation or steady income generation.
Speaking on the launch, Yemisi Edun, Managing Director of FCMB, said the initiative goes beyond offering convenience. According to her, the goal is to build a connected financial ecosystem that links banking, payments, and investments to support customers’ broader financial goals. “By integrating mutual funds into the FCMB Mobile App, we make it easier for customers to move from saving to investing without leaving our secure platform,” she added.
Also commenting, James Ilori, CEO of FCMB Asset Management, emphasized that the company’s mission is to democratize access to investments and make wealth creation more inclusive. He said the new app feature empowers anyone to start investing confidently, regardless of their financial background or location. Customers can now download or update the FCMB Mobile App via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to start investing instantly.
