EPL: Michael Owen names teams to be relegated, clubs to finish top four, title winner

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, has predicted that Arsenal will win the Premier League this season, marking a change from his earlier stance where he backed Liverpool to defend their title.

Speaking to Sky Bet, Owen said Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have shown impressive consistency and now look ready to end their 22-year wait for the top-flight trophy. Arsenal currently sit three points clear of Manchester City after eight games, and Owen believes this could finally be their year.

“I tipped Liverpool to win the Premier League before the season, but now, I’d say Arsenal,” Owen said. “They look strong. But Liverpool are still a very good side and not far off. I don’t fancy Manchester City as much this year.”

The former England striker also revealed his top four predictions, naming Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea as the teams that would qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. According to Owen, these sides have shown the most balance and squad depth early in the campaign.

For relegation, Owen tipped Leeds United, Burnley, and Wolves to drop back to the Championship. He added that Nottingham Forest might narrowly escape relegation following recent managerial changes, but warned that all four sides face serious challenges in avoiding the drop.
