Tinubu can’t silent what Nigerians have rejected – Lagos APC mocks ADC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed recent claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is trying to silence opposition voices ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party described the ADC’s statement as “an attention-seeking outburst” filled with baseless accusations.

In a press release signed by Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC spokesperson, the party said Tinubu cannot silence what Nigerians have already rejected. According to Oladejo, “The ADC’s statement is the political equivalent of a mosquito accusing a lion of roaring too loudly.” He said the APC under Tinubu is focused on governance and reshaping Nigeria’s destiny, not on engaging political “spectators” who only make noise during elections.

Oladejo added that while the APC is strengthening its internal unity and working towards results-driven governance, the ADC is busy fighting internal battles and struggling to keep its membership intact. He mocked the party for existing only on “newspaper pages and WhatsApp groups,” saying Nigerians have long moved on from parties that lack structure and credibility.

He further criticized the ADC for what he called “a pre-election blame strategy,” noting that it is preparing excuses for its future defeat rather than connecting with the people. “You don’t lose elections because your opponents silenced you – you lose because Nigerians don’t believe in you,” he said. Oladejo maintained that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has kept the APC too focused on progress to be distracted by “professional complainers.”

Concluding his statement, Oladejo urged the ADC to stop playing the victim and start doing real political work. “The only thing being silenced in Nigeria today is failure, confusion, and the politics of bitterness. As for the ADC – stop crying wolf; the nation has moved on,” he declared.
