EEDC cancels planned 10 days power outage in Enugu

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has officially announced the cancellation of its earlier planned 10-day power outage that was expected to affect several areas in Enugu State. The outage, initially scheduled to run from Wednesday, October 22, to Friday, October 31, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, was suspended due to unforeseen technical challenges.

In a statement released on Thursday, Emeka Ezeh, Head of Communications at EEDC, confirmed that the decision to cancel the planned outage came after communication from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). He explained that the development was necessary to ensure proper coordination between both companies before any major maintenance work is carried out.

Earlier reports had revealed that the maintenance exercise would have affected several 33KV feeders across Enugu metropolis on a rotational basis. The affected areas included Kingsway Lines 1 and 2, Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2, Thinkers Corner, Trans-Ekulu, Ugwuogo, and Ituku Ozalla. The planned outage was intended to enable crucial network maintenance and system upgrades.

Ezeh assured customers that a new schedule for the maintenance exercise would be announced as soon as all necessary arrangements are concluded. He also apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused by the abrupt change and expressed appreciation for their understanding and patience.

The EEDC reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply reliability and infrastructure maintenance in Enugu State, noting that the temporary suspension was in the best interest of customers and aimed at ensuring a smoother implementation of future power system upgrades.
