Benue Rep, Ojotu dumps PDP for APC

A member of the House of Representatives, Ojema Ojotu, representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in Benue State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ojotu, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, announced his defection on Tuesday through a formal letter addressed to the House leadership during plenary. The letter was read by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session.

In his resignation letter, the Benue lawmaker explained that his decision followed deep consultations with his constituents, family members, and political associates. He stated that persistent internal conflicts within the PDP pushed him to take the step.

“After consulting with my constituents, family members, and political associates, I have decided to dump the PDP for the APC due to the unending crisis in the party,” Ojotu stated in the letter.

With Ojotu’s defection, the ruling APC continues to attract more lawmakers from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, strengthening its presence in the National Assembly.
