EPL: Why I’m worried about Liverpool – Carragher

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has voiced his concern over the Reds’ worrying run of form following their 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The defeat at Anfield marked Liverpool’s fourth straight league loss and their fifth defeat across all competitions.

United took the lead early in the game through Bryan Mbeumo, before Cody Gakpo pulled one back for Liverpool in the 78th minute. However, a late header from Harry Maguire sealed all three points for Ruben Amorim’s side, leaving Liverpool’s title defense in serious doubt.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said he is increasingly worried about Liverpool’s performances, noting that the team looks far from the level that won them the title last season. “Liverpool are still conceding goals and big chances. I don’t think there is one glaring problem, it’s a mix of several issues,” he explained.

Carragher also highlighted that Liverpool’s new signings are yet to adapt, while some key players from last season are underperforming. “Some of Liverpool’s great players from last season are nowhere near their best. They are making errors, and it’s just not clicking for them right now,” he added.

Following the defeat, Liverpool now sit fourth in the Premier League, four points behind Arsenal and just two points ahead of Manchester United, who are pushing to break into the top four. Carragher concluded by saying, “I am worried for Liverpool, not just because of the results, but because of the performances too.”
