Jonathan’s ex-aide, Dudafa dumps PDP, joins APC

Dr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, a former Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters and Social Events to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Dudafa, who previously served as a commissioner and was one of the youngest members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, confirmed his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the party chairman in his Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area. He said his decision followed deep reflection and consultations with his family, political allies, and supporters.

In his resignation letter, Dudafa expressed regret over the internal disputes within the PDP, particularly at the national level, which he said had hindered the party’s progress. According to him, the constant conflicts made it difficult to pursue the party’s founding principles and deliver meaningful change to the people.

The former aide emphasized that his move to the APC was motivated by his commitment to serve his people better. “After careful reflection, I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a platform I believe offers renewed hope, unity, and a stronger foundation to address the challenges facing our state and nation,” he stated.

Political analysts in Bayelsa believe Dudafa’s defection may signal the beginning of new political realignments, especially ahead of future elections in the state. As a close ally of former President Jonathan, his move to the APC has sparked interest across political circles in the Niger Delta and beyond.
