EPL: Nottingham Forest sacks Postecoglou after 3-0 defeat to Chelsea

Nottingham Forest have officially sacked manager Ange Postecoglou following their 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea in Saturday’s Premier League clash at the City Ground. The announcement came just 20 minutes after full-time, marking a swift end to Postecoglou’s short stint with the club.

In an official statement, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou, who took charge just eight games ago, struggled to deliver positive results. Under his management, Forest lost six of their eight matches across all competitions, with only two ending in draws. The team’s performances have come under heavy criticism from fans and pundits alike.

One of the most disappointing moments during his short reign was the Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of Championship side Swansea City. Despite leading 2-1 in the 92nd minute, Forest conceded twice in added time to lose 3-2 — a result that further intensified pressure on the Australian coach.

The club’s hierarchy is now expected to begin the search for a new manager immediately, as they look to stabilize their season and avoid slipping deeper into relegation trouble. Postecoglou’s dismissal highlights the high expectations and intense pressure surrounding Premier League management.
