Adamawa Election Commission chairman, Vokna resigns

The Commissioner of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Suleiman Yahaya Vokna, has officially announced his resignation from office. In a statement personally signed and shared with the press, Vokna revealed that his decision takes effect from October 17, 2025, citing personal reasons and a desire to pursue other meaningful interests.

Vokna stated that his resignation followed a period of reflection and that stepping down was in the best interest of both himself and the Commission. He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Adamawa State for the trust placed in him during his appointment, describing his time in office as an honour and an opportunity to contribute to strengthening democratic governance in the state.

In his message, Vokna highlighted his commitment to the principles of integrity, impartiality, and transparency, which he said were essential for maintaining the credibility of any electoral body. He also praised his colleagues at ADSIEC for their dedication, professionalism, and cooperation throughout his tenure.

The outgoing commissioner acknowledged the Commission’s collective accomplishments during his service and commended the teamwork that helped achieve them. He emphasized that his decision to step aside was purely personal and aimed at allowing him to focus on other aspects of his life and career.

Vokna concluded by extending his best wishes to the Governor, the Adamawa State Government, and all members of the Electoral Commission. He expressed hope that the Commission would continue to uphold its responsibility of ensuring credible and transparent elections in the state.
