The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, in Kano State, has taken a tough stance against examination malpractice, expelling 34 students and suspending 13 others for one academic session. The decision was made during the university senate’s 123rd meeting on October 9, 2025, following the submission of a report by the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee.
According to a statement by Abdullahi Datti, Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations Unit, the disciplinary actions were based on findings that proved the involvement of the affected students in exam misconduct. The committee’s report was thoroughly reviewed before the Senate reached its decision.
Datti explained that, in addition to the expulsions and suspensions, several students received official warning letters for lesser offences. He noted that the university’s decision reflects its zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty and its determination to protect the value of its certificates.
“The management wishes to remind all students that examination malpractice and any form of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. We remain committed to promoting discipline and upholding academic integrity,” the statement read.
The university’s action sends a strong message to the student community about the importance of honesty, hard work, and discipline in academic pursuits. Aliko Dangote University continues to emphasize that maintaining credibility in examinations is vital to the institution’s reputation and the future success of its students.
