We’re rebuilding PDP into stronger, united party – Adamawa Gov, Fintiri

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has assured party members and supporters that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is undergoing a strategic rebuilding process aimed at restoring its unity, strength, and capacity to lead Nigeria once again.

Governor Fintiri made this known on Thursday in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle after inspecting preparations for the upcoming PDP National Convention, scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025.

Fintiri, who currently chairs the PDP National Convention Organising Committee, expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness at the venue, commending Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for his dedication and organizational excellence. “We’re building a stronger PDP—united, focused, and prepared to lead Nigeria forward,” he stated.

His comments come amid a wave of defections that recently hit the party, with notable members such as Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) within days of each other. Despite these challenges, Fintiri maintained that the PDP remains resilient and is focused on repositioning itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians.

The Adamawa governor emphasized that rebuilding the PDP goes beyond politics—it represents a renewed vision for good governance, inclusiveness, and national progress. He called on all members to close ranks, unite around shared ideals, and work toward returning the party to power in the next general elections.
