The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that it is impossible for him to solve all the problems facing the FCT, even if he remains in office for 500 years. He made this known on Friday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of Collector Road C01 in the Institution and Research District, linking the Body of Benchers complex to Nile University, including a bridge.
Wike emphasized that while challenges in the FCT would always arise, his administration is committed to making significant progress within the available time and resources. He assured residents that his goal is to improve infrastructure and deliver quality projects that will benefit the people.
The minister commended the Body of Benchers for their continued cooperation with the FCT Administration, noting that such collaboration is vital for achieving development goals. He added that despite his long-standing relationship with the Benchers as a life member, his focus remains on public service and tangible results.
According to Wike, leadership is about doing what is achievable within realistic limits rather than making impossible promises. “I may be here for 500 years, but new problems will always come up,” he said. “What matters is that we do our best within the resources and time we have to give our people what they deserve.”
He urged Abuja residents to work with the government to ensure that developmental projects are properly executed. “What is worth doing is worth doing well,” Wike said, calling on the public to support government efforts aimed at making the FCT a model city.
