I don’t roll with local champions – Ghanaian singer Moliy blasts Zinoleesky

A heated online clash erupted on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, between Ghanaian singer Moliy and Nigerian rapper Zinoleesky, after rumours surfaced about a possible collaboration between the two Afrobeats artists. The drama began when Moliy dismissed the speculation in a condescending tone, sparking a fiery exchange that quickly trended across social media platforms.

Moliy reacted to a flyer promoting the alleged collaboration by quote-tweeting it with the single word, “Who?”, implying she didn’t know who Zinoleesky was. Her response immediately caught attention, prompting Zinoleesky to clap back, calling her a “2 hits wonder” and questioning her musical relevance. “2 hits wonder… and I don’t even know the 2nd song,” the Marlian Music star posted, tagging Moliy in his response.

Unfazed by his jab, Moliy fired back, saying she was thankful he didn’t know her, claiming that the artists who do recognize her are “not local champions.” Her comment stirred reactions online, with fans of both artists taking sides. Some Nigerian fans of Zinoleesky even issued online threats, saying Moliy would be “cancelled in Nigeria” for disrespecting one of their own.

Moliy, however, appears to be unbothered by the backlash. The Ghanaian-American artist has made a name for herself internationally, particularly in the UK and US Afrobeats scenes, where she has achieved two Official Charts entries and two Billboard Hot 100 appearances. Her latest track, “Shake It To The Max Remix,” currently holds the number one spot on the US Billboard Afrobeats Chart.

The exchange between both artists has reignited debates about cross-border rivalries within the African music industry. While fans continue to trade words online, both Moliy and Zinoleesky have yet to issue any formal statements beyond their posts, leaving the feud open-ended.
