The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a man accused of defiling an eight-year-old girl in one of the local communities. The suspect was reportedly apprehended following a tip-off from residents who raised alarm after noticing suspicious behavior. Police authorities confirmed that the victim has been taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect was arrested through the swift intervention of officers attached to the state’s Gender and Family Support Unit. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man allegedly lured the minor to a secluded area before committing the crime. The victim’s parents immediately reported the incident, leading to the suspect’s arrest within hours.
