Governor Sule approves recruitment of 1,000 school teachers

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved the recruitment of 1,000 new teachers to strengthen the state’s education system and improve learning quality in public schools. The announcement was made by Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), following a meeting with local government chairmen in Lafia, the state capital.

According to Dr. Kassim, the recruitment process will be handled by a seven-member committee made up of four representatives from NSUBEB and three from the council chairmen to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process. He noted that the approval reflects the governor’s continuous efforts to uplift education standards and address teacher shortages across the state.

Dr. Kassim praised the governor’s decision, saying it demonstrates Sule’s dedication to improving the foundation of basic education. “By approving this recruitment, His Excellency has once again shown his commitment to ensuring that every child in Nasarawa gets quality education,” he stated.

He also disclosed that about 1,900 administrative staff members with teaching qualifications have already been redeployed to classrooms to reduce the shortage of teachers. This move, according to him, aligns with the administration’s larger plan to revitalize the education sector and make public schools more effective in delivering learning outcomes.

The approval of 1,000 new teachers marks another major step in Governor Sule’s agenda to enhance human capital development through education reform, ensuring that every child in Nasarawa State has access to functional and inclusive learning opportunities.
