In a major political shift, three members of the House of Representatives from Kaduna State have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers include Aliyu Abdullahi representing Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, Abdulkareem Ahmed representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, and Sadiq Abdullahi representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency. Their defection was formally announced on Tuesday during plenary, where Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu read their official notices on the floor of the House.
The move marks another wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, signaling growing momentum for the APC in the North-West region. The defectors cited the need to align with the “progressive vision” of the ruling party and contribute to the ongoing development agenda of the administration.
Interestingly, the development occurred on the same day Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State also announced his defection to the APC, alongside several political figures in the state, strengthening the ruling party’s presence across the South-East and Northern regions.
Political observers believe this wave of defections reflects strategic positioning by politicians seeking to consolidate influence ahead of the next election cycle.
