Nigerian National Attacks Four Policemen During Drug Raid In India

A drug raid in Nalasopara, Mumbai, turned violent on Saturday when a Nigerian man, identified as Onyejesi Obum Kingley, allegedly attacked four policemen and a civilian witness. The Tulinj police team had stormed his apartment at Tara Basera Apartments, Pragati Nagar, after receiving a tip about possible drug activity.

According to police reports, the situation quickly escalated as Kingley resisted arrest and physically assaulted the officers. A civilian witness accompanying the raid was reportedly pinned down and beaten severely. The injured officers and the witness were given first aid, though their injuries were said to be minor.

Despite the aggressive confrontation, police confirmed that no drugs were found during the search. However, Kingley was taken into custody for attacking law enforcement officers. He was brought before a court on Sunday and has been remanded to police custody pending further investigation.

Authorities have charged the suspect under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including assault on public servants, causing grievous hurt, and criminal intimidation. A senior officer from the Tulinj police emphasized that the assault occurred even though the raid yielded no drugs, saying, “Our team and panch witness were attacked during the operation.”
