The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has urged his colleagues in the National Assembly to always put the interest of Nigerians first. He said lawmakers must focus on competence, honesty, and service in carrying out their legislative duties. According to him, the trust placed in them by the people should guide every decision and action they take.
Akpabio made this appeal while addressing senators during a plenary session. He reminded them that Nigerians are watching closely and expect meaningful change from their leaders. He stressed that leadership should not be about personal gain but about improving the lives of the people and strengthening democracy.
The Senate President also advised senators to be accountable and transparent, noting that good governance requires integrity and teamwork. He said effective laws and policies must be passed to support economic growth, security, and social development across the country.
Akpabio concluded by calling on all senators to unite for the common good. He said that by choosing competence and staying accountable, the National Assembly can rebuild public confidence and deliver real progress for every Nigerian.
