Tension has gripped the Rani Ramat community in Kwara State following a deadly attack by armed bandits that left one person dead and the village head kidnapped. The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, sent residents fleeing into nearby bushes as the attackers stormed the area, shooting sporadically and looting valuables. Eyewitnesses said the assailants operated for hours without resistance before security forces arrived.
According to local sources, the bandits abducted the village head along with two others, whose whereabouts remain unknown. One resident was reportedly killed while trying to escape, while several others sustained injuries. The attack has left the community in shock and fear, with many calling on the government to increase security presence in the area.
Traditional rulers and community leaders have condemned the attack, describing it as another sad example of rising insecurity in rural parts of Kwara State. They urged security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, police authorities have confirmed the incident and assured that efforts are underway to track down the kidnappers. Residents have been advised to remain calm as joint security teams intensify patrols around the affected communities to prevent further attacks.
