PENGASSAN Dissolves Branch Exco For Failing To Cut Off Gas Supply

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has dissolved one of its branch executive councils for failing to comply with a directive to cut off gas supply during an ongoing industrial action. According to union sources, the affected executives were accused of disobeying central orders aimed at strengthening workers’ demands.

The decision was announced after an emergency meeting by the national leadership, which stated that the dissolved members would be replaced by a caretaker committee until further notice. PENGASSAN emphasized that maintaining discipline and unity within the union is crucial to achieving fair treatment for workers in the oil and gas industry.

This development has sparked mixed reactions among members, with some supporting the decision as a show of strength, while others believe dialogue should have been prioritized over sanctions.
