Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has called on the Nigerian military to maintain consistent operations in Kirawa community, a border town recently reclaimed from Boko Haram insurgents. The governor made the call during his visit to assess the level of stability and ongoing reconstruction in the area, stressing that the sustained presence of security forces is vital to prevent the return of terrorists.
Governor Zulum praised the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their courage and sacrifices in reclaiming Kirawa after years of insurgent control. He noted that normalcy was gradually returning to the community, with displaced residents showing interest in returning to their homes. However, he emphasized that stability could only be guaranteed if military operations continue and security structures remain in place.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuilding schools, hospitals, and housing in the liberated area to support the resettlement process. He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and remain vigilant against any suspicious movement or activities that could threaten peace in the region.
