Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the dissolution of the Rivers State Microfinance Agency Board, which was earlier appointed by former Sole Administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd). The decision is part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to reorganize key government institutions for improved transparency and performance.
The announcement, made through an official statement from the Government House in Port Harcourt, directed all members of the dissolved board to hand over government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities. Governor Fubara stated that his administration remains committed to promoting accountability and efficiency in all state agencies.
Observers see the move as another step by the governor to assert control over state affairs and align public institutions with his development agenda. The government is expected to announce a new board soon to ensure the smooth running of the agency and continuation of its financial inclusion programs.
