The Fulani community in Plateau State has raised alarm over what they described as continuous attacks and harassment by unidentified gunmen in some local areas. According to the group, several members of their community were killed, injured, and displaced during recent assaults in villages within Bokkos and Mangu local government areas. They have now called on the government and security agencies to take swift action, saying, “Enough is enough.”
Leaders of the Fulani community alleged that the attacks were targeted and unprovoked, claiming that their people had been living peacefully before being attacked. They added that houses and livestock were destroyed, leaving many families homeless and struggling to survive. The group also appealed for an investigation and justice for victims, stressing that peace cannot thrive without fairness and security for all.
They further urged the Plateau State Government, security operatives, and traditional rulers to intervene before the crisis worsens. The community emphasized that they are not seeking revenge but only protection and equal rights like every other group in the state. Many residents in the affected areas have also appealed for the restoration of peace through dialogue and unity.
This latest outcry adds to growing concerns over recurring violence in Plateau State, which has been marked by years of tension between farmers and herders. Civil society groups and religious leaders have again called for tolerance, justice, and peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups in the region.
