Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that there was a time when Boko Haram insurgents had more ammunition than Nigerian troops. He said this clearly showed that external groups were deeply involved in fueling the conflict, as the terrorists could not have acquired such firepower on their own.
Jonathan explained that the rise in attacks during his administration was tied to heavy foreign support for the insurgents. According to him, the situation made it more difficult for the military to respond quickly, as the terrorists were often better equipped.
He stressed that understanding the role of external players in terrorism is important for Nigeria’s security strategy. Jonathan also emphasized that the country must remain united and vigilant to prevent outsiders from exploiting its challenges.
