2023 Was A Mistake, South East No More Obidient, We Are For Tinubu – Umahi

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has declared that the people of the South East are no longer fully supporting the Obidient movement that backed Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections. Speaking at a political gathering, Umahi described the region’s decision in 2023 as a “mistake” and stressed that the South East is now firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, the political alignment has shifted because Tinubu has shown commitment to key infrastructure and development projects in the region. Umahi noted that several ongoing road and bridge projects under Tinubu’s administration are already impacting the South East positively. He insisted that these actions demonstrate the president’s goodwill, which deserves loyalty and support from the people.

The Minister urged leaders and youths in the region to move past the 2023 elections and focus on working with the current government to secure growth and progress. His comments have stirred mixed reactions, with some welcoming the alignment while others remain critical of abandoning the Obidient movement.
