Residents of Gwarinpa, Abuja, have raised alarm over a lane on the busy Gwarinpa road being completely covered with refuse. The heap of waste has not only blocked part of the road but also created health and environmental concerns for people living and working around the area.
Motorists and pedestrians expressed frustration, noting that the blocked lane causes heavy traffic during rush hours. Many blamed poor waste management and slow response by relevant authorities for allowing the refuse to pile up to such a disturbing level.
Community leaders are now calling on the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and other agencies to urgently clear the waste and ensure regular refuse disposal in Gwarinpa. Residents stressed that keeping the environment clean will improve both safety and public health in the city.
