President Bola Tinubu has invited former Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retd.), to the Presidential Villa for a closed-door meeting. The session, which drew attention due to its timing, also had the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in attendance.

Although details of the discussion were not made public, political watchers believe it may be linked to growing calls for a probe into Ibas’s six-month stewardship in Rivers State. His administration had faced criticism from lawmakers and civil society groups over spending transparency.

Tinubu’s decision to personally summon Ibas, alongside the anti-graft agency’s leadership, signals that the Federal Government may be taking a closer look at the controversies surrounding Rivers State’s finances during the emergency rule.
