The Lagos State Government (LASG) has expressed sympathy to residents affected by the heavy flood on Tuesday that left parts of the city submerged. The downpour, which lasted for hours, caused major traffic disruptions, property damage, and displacement in several areas, including Lekki, Ajah, and the Mainland.
In a statement, government officials assured Lagosians that steps are being taken to address flooding challenges, including improved drainage maintenance and long-term infrastructure projects. LASG also urged residents to avoid dumping waste in drainages, which worsens the situation during heavy rains.
The government further appealed for calm, promising that emergency response teams remain on standby to support affected communities and prevent further losses.
