Some opposition stakeholders have come together to launch a new political movement called AGOBI ’27, aimed at rallying support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The group said its mission is to unite opposition forces and present a strong challenge to the ruling party. During the launch, they appealed to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step aside and give his full backing to Obi, arguing that unity within the opposition is the only way to defeat the APC in the next election.
According to the organisers, the AGOBI ’27 initiative is designed to mobilise Nigerians across regions and political lines. They stressed that Obi’s growing popularity, especially among the youth, makes him the most viable candidate to lead the opposition to victory.
Political analysts, however, say it remains to be seen whether Atiku will accept such calls, given his long-standing ambition to become president. Still, the launch of AGOBI ’27 has stirred debates about coalition politics and opposition strategy in the countdown to 2027.
