Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum of betrayal. Wike said that despite his efforts to help Damagum secure his position as chairman, Damagum now sees him as an enemy.
“I did everything, I had his lawyers, and that’s what sustained Damagum to be there. But who is Damagum’s enemy now? It is me,” Wike said on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He further claimed that Damagum would not hesitate to harm him if given the opportunity.
The tensions come amid calls by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido for the PDP National Working Committee to expel Wike, former governors Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu, and others accused of undermining the party in favor of the ruling APC.
