Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, has revealed that truck drivers working for his company earn more than many Nigerian graduates.
Speaking on Arise Television on Tuesday, Dangote said his drivers are paid nearly four times the national minimum wage. He explained that their pay and benefits are far better than what many graduates receive.
Dangote also dismissed fears that his new trucks would take away jobs. He clarified that each truck creates work for about six people, and with the trucks they launched, about 24,000 new jobs will be available.
According to him, drivers at Dangote Group also have extra benefits. After five years without any accident, they can apply for a house loan.
“Our drivers earn more than graduates. If you check their salary, it is almost four times the national minimum wage,” Dangote said.
