British actor Idris Elba has called Lagos “the most amazing city in the world,” praising its energy and the amazing creative talent found in Nigeria’s largest city.

He shared his thoughts with ETalk TV while walking the red carpet at the TIFF Tribute Awards on September 7.

In a video that went viral on social media, Elba talked about his time in Lagos while working on the film Dust to Dreams.

He said, “If you’ve never been to Lagos, it’s an incredible city. I had an amazing time. The talent there is outstanding.”

Elba added that he left Lagos with many wonderful memories from his visit.

One of his favorite experiences was seeing British singer Seal (Henry Olusegun Samuel) act while embracing his Nigerian roots.

“I got to see Seal acting. He’s acted before, but this time he was performing with his Nigerian heritage. It was really special,” Elba said.

Another highlight for him was a musical performance tied to the project.

“One of the best moments was a beautiful song we wrote for the film, performed by Seal and a talented artist named Konstance,” he shared.

Elba has often spoken highly of African creativity and continues to recognize Nigeria’s growing impact in the global entertainment scene.
