Senator Uche Ekwunife, who is the Deputy Governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has apologized to Governor Charles Soludo and his wife, Nonye Soludo.
The apology came after claims surfaced that she accused the governor’s wife of being unfaithful.
The tension between the senator and the governor’s wife began after a dispute over the governor’s allegation that Ekwunife’s PhD was not genuine. In response, the senator mentioned the governor’s wife in the exchange, accusing her of infidelity.
The First Lady then challenged Ekwunife to a DNA test concerning the children in both families.
In a press release issued by her media aide, Tony Ezike, Ekwunife said she did not make the claim and expressed regret over the misunderstanding.
The statement said: “Senator Uche Ekwunife has noticed a report wrongly linked to her team, suggesting Mrs. Nonye Soludo had children with Chief Chris Uba. She clearly states that this report did not come from her or her campaign. She apologizes to the Governor, his wife, and the public affected by recent exchanges. She urges her supporters to stay focused on the campaign and avoid any media content that could suggest conflict with the First Family or anyone else.”
