Former Chelsea player and coach Roberto Di Matteo has claimed that Bayern Munich misled the club over Nicolas Jackson’s transfer.
Jackson joined Bayern Munich this summer on loan, with the German side paying £14 million for the deal. The agreement also includes an obligation to buy him permanently for £56 million if he plays 40 matches.
But Bayern’s president, Uli Hoeness, publicly stated that the club has no plans to keep Jackson and that the striker will return to Chelsea at the end of the season.
Di Matteo disagreed, saying the Bayern chief was not being truthful about making the deal permanent.
He explained that if Jackson scores 20 goals this season, Bayern will have no choice but to sign him. He also reminded people that the striker has only just arrived at the club and should be given a fair chance to prove himself.
According to Di Matteo, Bayern’s early decision sounds unconvincing, and he believes Chelsea made a mistake letting Jackson go because the forward worked very hard and showed he was a capable striker.
Meanwhile, Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League table with seven points and will face Brentford in their next match.
