Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has called on President Bola Tinubu to end his vacation and return to Nigeria, saying urgent action is needed to stop the country from sliding into disorder.
Falana accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the federal government of ignoring court rulings and undermining the rule of law in the country.
In a statement he personally signed, Falana stressed that the habit of disregarding court decisions by influential people puts the nation’s legal system and democracy in danger.
According to him, President Tinubu must act quickly by suspending his vacation to stop Nigeria from falling into chaos and instability.
He also urged the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to take strong steps against the growing trend of disobeying court orders.
Falana further criticized the Nigerian Senate under Senator Godswill Akpabio, describing it as one of the worst in history.
He accused the Senate of ignoring important court judgments and showing little respect for the justice system.
“The judgments of courts are being ignored by those in power and wealthy individuals. Sadly, the Senate under Akpabio has become the most notorious for this,” Falana said.
