Suspect in fatal sho0ting of Charlie Kirk is in custody, Trumps says

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that a suspect linked to the killing of activist Charlie Kirk is now in custody.

During an appearance on Fox News’s Fox & Friends, Trump shared what he described as a major update on the case.

When asked about the investigation, the 79-year-old president stated, “I believe with strong certainty that we have the suspect in custody.”

According to BBC News, Trump mentioned he was informed about the arrest just minutes before going live for the interview.

He further explained that a close associate of the suspect was the one who handed him over to authorities. Trump also noted that more details will likely be released later today.

However, officials have not yet confirmed the arrest or revealed the identity of the alleged suspect.

Trump praised law enforcement for their swift action, saying they did a “great job” working together to move the case forward.

He also expressed hope that whoever is responsible for Kirk’s death will face the death penalty.

Charlie Kirk, a married father of two, was shot in the neck by a single bullet while speaking about mass shootings at a Utah university campus. A large manhunt had been underway to track down the gunman.
