Suspect in Charlie Kirk murder identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson

The suspect in the killing of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah.

Reports from the New York Post and CNN said Robinson told his father that he was the one who shot and killed Kirk during an event at the University of Utah. His father then reached out to the police and handed him over.

Neighbors described Robinson as a quiet and withdrawn young man. He had no serious criminal record but was said to be dealing with personal struggles. Investigators are still trying to find out if the shooting was politically motivated or connected to personal issues.

Charlie Kirk, 31, was the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth movement that became one of the most well-known right-wing groups in the country. He was scheduled to speak at the University of Utah as part of his “American Comeback Tour” when he was shot dead.

The murder has caused strong reactions across the United States, with leaders and activists from different political sides condemning the act of violence.

Police confirmed that Robinson is cooperating with investigators after his father turned him in.

Authorities say Robinson will soon face formal charges as they continue working to understand his reasons for carrying out the attack.
