Police rescue abducted Egyptian national in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued an Egyptian man who was kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.

The abduction happened on Monday, September 8, 2025, but within 24 hours the victim was found and freed.

Police spokesperson CSP Osifeso Adewale said in a statement on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, that the victim was rescued safely without any ransom being paid.

The statement explained that the kidnapping took place in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre. According to the police, the rescue showed the dedication of officers and the success of working closely with other security agencies.

Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Femi Haruna, the command immediately launched a coordinated operation after the report was made.

The operation included officers from the 4 PMF Ibadan, intelligence and tactical units, local vigilantes, and the Ogun State Police Command. Together, they searched the forests and border areas of Oyo and Ogun States.

Through intelligence and careful planning, the joint team located and rescued the victim without paying ransom.

The police added that the man will be reunited with his family after receiving medical care at the Police Hospital in Eleyele.

The Oyo State Police Command also urged residents to remain alert and to report any suspicious movements in their areas.

The command stressed that the safety of the public is its top priority and assured that efforts will continue to keep Oyo State peaceful.
