Millions of Nigerians were thrown into darkness again on Wednesday, September 10, as the national electricity grid collapsed.
Electricity production dropped dramatically from 2,917.83 megawatts to just 1.5 megawatts between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Following the failure, the official Nigeria National Grid X account, which provides updates on power supply, confirmed that efforts to restore the system were already in progress.
A later update revealed that electricity supply from all distribution companies across the country, except Ibadan DisCo, had dropped to zero megawatts, leaving countless homes and businesses without power.
