Nigerian human rights activist Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi has raised alarm over the increasing sexual abuse of young male football trainees by their coaches.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Omotoyosi revealed that his organization handled several cases of abuse between 2023 and 2024, showing how widespread the issue has become.
He warned parents to talk to their sons who train at local football clubs about any conversations with their coaches that might be inappropriate.
He also praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for arresting and prosecuting the accused coaches, who remain in custody pending further court hearings.
